New: Pixel RTS, and Overgrowth 0.5

Two things today: a brand-new game, and a big update to Overgrowth.

Pixel RTS

A top-down pixel-art real-time strategy game, inspired by The Conquerors 3 and Strategema on Roblox. Play it here.

Start with an HQ, mine ore and pump oil, build barracks, factories, airfields and docks, capture and grow cities, and research a tech tree of 29 techs across four eras. Win by conquest, by science, or by holding the map.

  • Skirmish against up to five AIs, each with its own personality, at three difficulties.
  • Online with up to six players. The host's browser runs the game and friends join with a room code. There's no game server and nothing to install.
  • Boot Camp walks new players through the basics, and the Field Guide covers every unit and building.

It has twists of its own too: a government in exile, a last stand at the HQ, insurgency for knocked-out players, city contract auctions and bounties, and wanted aces.

It's an early prototype. Tell me what breaks.

Overgrowth 0.5: Sharp Edges

Overgrowth is now a gather, craft and defend game. By day you strip the jungle for materials; by night you hold the Heartwood against the Blight until dawn. Survive to night 10 to win. Play it here.

Overgrowth 0.5: the Heartwood at camp, machete in hand

0.5 is about the machete:

  • A real machete in a gloved hand, with forehand and backhand swings.
  • Every blow cuts a notch into the bark, and hacking the same spot opens it wider.
  • The blade sinks into wood and has to be wrenched free; on rock it bounces back.
  • The forest floor is now a mix of leaves, bare earth, roots and seedlings instead of one carpet.

Full notes are in the changelog.
